Frequently Asked Questions

With over 22 years experience providing music for all types of affairs, we have earned an excellent reputation for great music, exceptional talent and personalized service. In order to help you decide on a band for your event, here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

We encourage our clients to go through our song list and highlight the selections they would like the band to play and cross out any selections they do not wish to hear. On the day of your event we will perform music you have chosen. Our band is also extremely capable of “reading the crowd” and choosing music we are confident will pack the dance floor.

If you provide at least 4 weeks notice, and an MP3 of your song, we will learn up to 3 songs for your event.

Renaissance will perform music which is especially suited for the dinner hour and to conversation. Also, as the party progresses we are always amenable to lowering the volume at your request.

A standard engagement is 1 hour for cocktails and 4 hours for the full band. If there is a ceremony before cocktails, arrangements can be made for music to be played during that time. Within 4 hours our band will play a on a continuous music basis, which means that we don’t take breaks or play recorded music, unless requested. During the quieter dinner hour, we rotate our musicians and there will always be 2/3 musicians who will continue to perform dinner music.

The versatility and quality of musicianship in our band is such that our musicians can authentically perform a wide variety of music ranging from the ’40’s swing era to today’s Top 40 dance music. Our song list is very extensive and includes music from every era. You are always free to choose which songs you would like the band to play.

Renaissance is a “set” group which means every member in our band will be the same every time. We do not randomly put together freelance musicians for each event as some organizations do. In the event of illness a substitute of equal ability will be contracted.

Yes. You may choose to hire one or more of our musicians to perform for your ceremony. Your cocktail hour is included in our standard package. We can suggest music appropriate for your ceremony or you may choose your own music selections.

Our band is 10 pieces, but we can expand to 12 or reduce to 6. The size of the band you hire should fit the type of function you are having, the kind of music you would like the band to play, the number of invited guests and the size of the room where your affair will take place. We take all this into consideration before recommending the size of the band. We do not reduce the size of the band for weddings, except under very special circumstances.

What Our Client Say

Phaedra – Please thank Leon and the rest of the Renaissance Orchestra for coming to Baltimore and for making Randi and Mike’s wedding the best ever. We can’t tell you how many of our friends have called us this week to tell us how lovely the wedding was and how absolutely wonderful you guys were. They all said that they have never heard a better wedding band or had a better time at a wedding. In fact our photographer, who has been professionally shooting weddings for 35 years, told us that the Renaissance Orchestra is absolutely the best band that he has ever heard. We were hoping for the wedding to be elegant and fun. The Lord Baltimore Hotel supplied the elegance and you supplied the fun. For the better part of the night, most of our guests were on the the dance floor dancing. You kept the evening moving with your fabulous sound from beginning to end. Our daughter Randi never stopped smiling. As parents, we could not have hoped for anything better. It was truly a magical night for our families and we have the Renaissance Orchestra to thank for that. We will have our wonderful memories forever.
